About Us

Who We Are:

Cumberland Outdoor Furnishings is a family owned and operated business, manufacturing high quality poly furniture, located in Richmond, KY. We are a Christian homeschooling family endeavoring to learn about, know and follow Jesus Christ in all we do. I, Rich Schneider, owner of Cumberland Outdoor Furnishings, am a professional mechanical engineer of Swiss descent, with my father emigrating from Switzerland to the United States in 1956. I maintain dual citizenship with the USA and Switzerland. Our family enjoys singing hymns, being out in nature, bird watching, gardening, spending time with family and having fellowship with the saints of God.

Our Purpose in Business:

As followers of Jesus, we endeavor to operate our business in the most upright manner possible, doing all things heartily, as unto the Lord and not unto men (Colossians 3:23), instilling Christian character, diligence and integrity in our family, thereby bringing glory to God. We trust that this character will naturally cause us to produce high quality products at a fair price, thereby satisfying our customers and business relations.

Our Faith:

Psalm 119:128 says, “Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right, therefore I hate every false way.”  We believe the Holy Bible to be true and right concerning all things, and therefore we reject any other philosophy as to how to come to God as it is a false way and leads souls to everlasting destruction. Jesus Christ is the only way to God (John 14:6). Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12).

After living a perfectly sinless, obedient life, He was crucified by ungodly men to be a perfect sin offering to God that we might have forgiveness of sins, paying the ransom for our souls and purchasing a full salvation for sinners like you and us. Yet after being crucified, the Bible states that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. All other prophets and religious men have died and remain in the grave today. Jesus is the only one who rose from the dead, and has thereby declared and proved what was true from the beginning, that He Himself is the the Son of God (Romans 1:4). Being the Son of God, He Himself is equal with God (John 5:18, Philippians 2:6) and therefore He is the one that declares what is right or wrong, what is good or bad, what is true or false, and what is righteous or sinful. He is the ultimate authority on all matters of life, truth and morality. And He has declared what He has deemed to be true on these matters in His Word – The Holy Bible. Jesus is King!

Where do you stand with God?

This brings us the to same place that He has brought us many years ago. He has declared that all have committed sin and are therefore children of wrath and destined for hell if payment and reconciliation for that sin is not made. If God were to judge you just by the 10 commandments (even if we were to ignore the rest of the Bible), would you be found guilty or innocent? Certainly, if we are honest, we will admit that we have stolen, lied, disrespected our parents in our hearts, coveted (been discontent with what we have), lusted after others (which is adultery in God’s eyes) and allowing other things to take precedence over our worship of God (if we worship Him at all), among a myriad of other things. Does this concern you? What do you plan to do about your sins? God has declared that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins, and that only a perfect sacrifice will be sufficient to bring forgiveness of sins. Time does not forgive sins, therefore just because it happened long ago, does not mean that it is forgiven or that God has forgotten. Good works do not forgive sins, therefore any supposedly good works we have committed will not make up for our wrong. We cannot hide our sins from God, but rather all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do (Hebrews 4:13). All of our words, deeds and even our motives for them are written in a book, and that book will be opened and read at the great judgement throne. Every one of us shall give account of himself to God (Romans 14:12).

So I will ask again: What do you plan to do about your sins? The Bible tells us that if we are truly repentant and willing to confess and forsake our sin and submit to Jesus as our King, God is willing to apply the blood of Jesus Christ to our sins and wash them away, clearing our account and bringing reconciliation between us and God. What’s more, he offers to give us a new, clean heart, to adopt us as his own child, to make us citizens of His Kingdom, to fill us with His Spirit and give us His grace so that we are be able to obey his commandments and live a holy, upright life in this present world (Titus 2:11-12). The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all (that includes you) would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out (Acts 3:19). May the Lord grant you wisdom and tenderness of heart as you consider this, the single most important issue in life. Amen.
